Why Montreal?

International City

Montreal is a cosmopolitan city, with interesting neighborhoods and lots of history. It is home to people of various racial, ethnic and linguistic origins. It is the largest city in the province of Quebec and the second largest one in Canada.
There are four million people living on the Island of Montreal.  The city is known for its bilingualism, with 57.4% of the population able to speak both English and French. While the city’s official language is French, spoken by the majority, English speakers and speakers of other language constitute the other half.

Cultural Scene

Montreal is one of North-America’s choice destinations for international events and conferences. It is a city that has hosted the summer Olympics (1967) and since 1978 is host to the Canadian Grand Prix (Formula One). The city boasts the International Jazz Festival, the largest jazz festival in the world. It is also the host of the beloved Just for Laughs festival. It is also home to the famous Cirque du Soleil and the ice hockey team Montreal Canadiens, the franchise with the most Stanley Cup wins.

Easy to get around

Montreal is an easy city to get around as the transportation system is well put together. There is a metro system and buses with express schedules and regular. It is a safe city where people can take the after midnight – Night Network busses – , once the metro is closed. There are options to rent bikes, which the city puts at the disposal of its residents. In short, one can go anywhere on the island, starting form any point.

Student City

Montreal is one of the best student cities in the world. It was ranked number one in the QS Best Student Cities 2017, ahead of London and Paris. Montreal stands out among other cities of its size for its low cost of living.
Housing is much more affordable in Montreal compared to other big cities in North America and Europe. Housing affordability, cost of living, recreation, arts and entertainment are all important factors to  for international students to consider when choosing a study destination.
The city is home to some 185,000 students Montréal attracts more than 25,000 international students from over 150 countries.
It is also one of the biggest employers of college graduates, particularly in the fields of IT and aerospace industries, as well as for graduates of business and management programs.
